Default No Park after transfer case swap?

Hi all. I've got a old beater 87 S15 jimmy with the 2.8 and an automatic trans. I let my brother drive it last winter and the transfer case went out. I swapped it with a junkyard unit, and I havent had park since... it spends most of the time at the farm, but I'm thinking it needs to be my snow day ride this winter. What i'm wondering is if there sould be something internal in the transfer case that is not letting it grap park?

Park has nothing to do with the transfer case unless the t-case is in neutral. Park is handled in the transmission.

Did you possibly screw up the adjustment on the shift linkage?
