How many miles to a tank of gas?
#111
Well on a trip from ky to sc i was able to get 28 mpg and i did 80mph all the way. That was with me, my mom, my dad and our luggage for the week vacation. (about 80/20 hwy city where we went).
That was back in may but here lately i have calculated it to 22-23 mpg, 2dr blazer, 3.42 rear, CAI with heatshield, magnaflow exhaust system 2.5" to the tail. p235 70r15, w4m tune, clean maf and a new air filter, penz ultra 10w-30. If you want proof i can take a pic when i calculate my mileage but other than that idk.
The most miles i have gotten out of one tank (19 gal) outside of that vacation was around 400 mile mark, when i filled up i had just over one gallon left in the tank. BTW i calculate my mileage by tripometer reading / how many gallons the pump put in= mpg. There can be some error in this calc b/c not every pump is going to fill the tank to exactly the same level and temp differences. So i guess in order for anyone to prove their exact gas mileage we better put some fuel cells in our truck or install a flow gauge on the fuel line to measure the used gas.

I have a '97 4-door 4x4 that I drive lightly, and I never get much over 17 mpg...If there's a good way to increase this, I'd love to hear it! I saw one guy says his '98 gets 24-25 mpg; you lucky dude, what have you done to improve it?? I've had mine since 1999, and just recently I decided to figure out the historical gas mileage.. My gas gauge stopped working correctly maybe 8 years ago, so I Never rely on it. Unless I'm pulling a trailer, I can get 300 miles per tankful almost every time, although I usually don't push it that far. I've gone over, like ~ 320 miles, but thought I was going to run out before I filled up, but I got lucky. Pulling a heavy tent trailer, my mileage drops dramatically, like to maybe 10-12 or something; I've run out of gas several times with the family in the car pulling the trailer, now I re-fill at 200 miles or less with trailer on.. I found all my (except 2) gas receipts from Sept 2004 until August 2010, for mileage from 109,953 to 164,035 miles.. I only do fill-ups, and I record all of them, except once or twice when I only had like $5 to spend.. Pretty good, eh, just losing 2 receipts in 6 years? And they were all stuffed into the space below my radio.. I know I had calculated the mileage once before, back in ~ 2003 and cleaned out all the receipts then, but I've lost that info somehow. But I remember I was only getting about 16-17 mpg back then too.. I just use regular oil, and add Marvel's Mystery Oil, and often go a long time between changes, but it's running good. So does anyone have good suggestions about increasing the mileage that definitely work? Thanks

dang if running under a quarter is bad for fuel pumps im screwed i never have gas haha. is that cause it doesnt have the fuel to help keep it cool?

my average mpg is 15-16 driving around town and I get 18-22 mpg on the highway, not too bad for steel wheels, 31" tires, and 3.42 gears, but I've never seen 28 mpg even when my truck was bone stock. maybe 25 at the very most

My blazer is stock and I get 13.8 mpg and About 200 to a tank. (2000 LT 4dr 4x4) I do lots of city driving so that is probably why. Right now its at 60 miles to a half but floating gas gauges changes all the time haha.

^^ wow my average is only that low if I did a lot of 4 wheeling

Yeah my mpg blows just replaced spark plugs too. Getting my Spectre CAI tomorrow to help with that problem and cause I just want a little more hp with out doing anything major.... yet.

Do you get on the throttle from stops? That could be a problem....but now I'm getting 17mpg since I put the new tires on and did seafoam...about to do the tank treatment of seafoam. Last time I did vacuum treatment.

Eh not really usually keep it close to 2k rpms. But gotta remember that extra transfer case is always going.
