right now the blazer has a 6 inch suspension lift & 3 inch body lift sitting on 38's i was just wondering if there was any way i could lift in higher without buying a new suspension lift....could i just put 8 inch leaf springs in the rear & 8 inch springs in the front ? if that would work what size shocks would i need ?

WOW that sounds awesome! I got the same year! Id really like to put a 6 inch suspension lift. Which did you use? whered you get it? thanks

That depends on what parts you have under it now. I hope you aren't still running on the 1/2-ton axles!
Going from 6" to 8" suspension lift, you'll likely have to do a drop pitman arm & a lift steering arm on the axle (if you haven't already gone to cross-over steering). You also may have to clock your transfer case or risk some pretty harsh front driveshaft angles at the transfer case.

swartllk brings up some good points! steering will need to be addressed, and he is right about the driveshaft angles they would be / \ looking ... but can be done. brake lines might need to be lengthed also. in my opionin, 6" suspension is about max "budget wise" on a K5... but i have seen 12" lifts on them with 3" body lifts too, and there huge. but to go that high its not as practical. not to mention normally something that high will have huge rubber underneath it. and huge rubber and 1/2 ton axles dont normally go hand and hand. seeing you have 38" already im hoping your running atleast 3/4ton if not 1 ton axles already.
and if you do decide to go for the 8" suspension post some pics on here!! theres not alot of K5 images with the larger lifts here!!!

i have a 79 k5 that came from fort polk here in louisiana .it has a 8 " lift on it right now.still has the 1/2 ton axles and does fine.as far as steering you will need to get the steering block{goes on axle} and drop pitman arm.as far as your transfer case you can get a 3" drop for it at skyjacker.it is about 35 bucks.

DO NOT get a steering block! DANGEROUS!! If you are looking into that much of a lift, go to a cross-over steering setup.
And the 1/2 ton stuff is fine if you know what you are doing, but so many jump in with big tires and expect to bounce off things like the big boys and that is just not possible with 1/2 ton running gear.

8" lifts are stiff too. really stiff . i would rather have a 6" than an 8" , especially if you drive daily. i can't stress how stiff those extra 2" are.
