In-vehicle rod bearing replacement
Tip of the hat to everyone for their excellent posts. Many of them are very informative.
I'm going to change out the rod bearings in my '96 Blazer with the engine still in place. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions? Once I get the front t-case removed it appears to be clear for operation.

Don't put the connecting rod cap on backwards, remember to locktite and torque the cap nuts to specs, dont bang on it with a hammer too hard, mike everything, plastic gauge the bearing to make sure you have enough oil clearence

Thanks for the reply Thor... I'll be tackling this over the weekend. I don't have much run time since the rod knock started (maybe 20min. or so), hopefully there's no further damage. It appears I could even remove the crank from under there if need be. I'll be sure to remember to scratch on the cap number while I remove them. Here's the crankshaft and rod bearing specs from the factory service manual.

that's "mic" everything Thor. as in micrometer.
